High winds expected Sunday, possible rain and snow Monday

A strong cold front moving into the valley has prompted the National Weather Service to issue a wind advisory from 1 p.m. today through 10 p.m. Monday, according to the agency.

Southwesterly winds are expected to pick up later in the day, producing gusts of up to 35 mph, meteorologist Chad Shafer said.

Sunday's high will be 67 degrees with cloudy skies. The low will be 44 degrees, with a 40 percent chance of rain after midnight and before noon Monday, he said.

These temperatures could be cold enough to produce a couple of snowflakes in the valley Monday, but Shafer said there is no chance for them to accumulate.

Monday will be even cooler, with a high of 50 degrees and a low of 38 degrees before things warm up again midweek, Shafer said.
