Henderson father accidentally runs over son while cleaning garage

A 9-year-old boy is dead after his father accidentally ran him over Saturday while they were cleaning their garage in Henderson.

Henderson firefighters were called around 4 p.m. to the family's home in the 1100 block of Midori Street, near Horizon Ridge Parkway and East Paradise Hills Drive, after the boy had been crushed beneath the car, according to Henderson Police.

The father tossed an item to his son before backing a car out of the garage, Henderson spokeswoman Michelle French said. The father thought his son had caught the item and moved out of the way, but the boy had missed the catch and went under the car to retrieve the item, French said.

Neighbors came over and performed CPR until the firefighters arrived. The boy was transported to St. Rose Dominican Hospitals — Rose de Lima Campus, where he later died, French said.

The incident is being investigated.
