Metro Police will welcome 68 new police officers to its ranks Wednesday afternoon.
The department will hold a private ceremony at the Orleans for the recruits, who have been training since November to become Metro officers.
Metro — which has ramped up efforts to diversify its ranks since a Las Vegas Sun report in November noted a lack of black, Asian and Hispanic officers at the department — said 20 of the graduates are minorities.
The group also includes 15 college students plus 28 others who attended college and 13 who are military veterans.
