Valet union protests at SLS Las Vegas over complaints

The union representing Las Vegas valet workers is protesting what it says is unfair treatment at the SLS Las Vegas on the Strip.

Teamsters Local 986 said the group and supporters protested outside SLS Monday.

The union wants to organize the resort's 50 valet employees.

An SLS statement says the resort will partner with any union that employees choose to represent them and notes a majority of hourly employees are members of unions.

Local 986 has three complaints pending with the National Labor Relations Board against SLS, saying management has questioned workers about union efforts, threatened to outsource valet services and reduce wages.

The union says the company fired three workers for their unionizing efforts.

An SLS representative didn't respond to specific questions about the union's allegations.
