Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman makes a few remarks during the fourth annual Philanthropy Leaders Summit, Friday Feb 6, 2015.

Mayor Carolyn Goodman, on the campaign trail for a second term in office, is expected to rally for support Wednesday morning from a group of politically influential Latinos.

Goodman, who last addressed Hispanics in Politics while campaigning for her seat in 2011, will speak to the group in downtown Las Vegas during its regular monthly gathering at Doña Maria's Tamales, on Las Vegas and Charleston boulevards.

Her visit with Hispanics in Politics follows that of City Councilman Stavros Anthony, who announced plans to challenge Goodman for the seat last month. Anthony met with the group on Feb. 4.

Goodman, a registered independent, failed to get an endorsement from the nonpartisan organization when she first campaigned for mayor four years ago. Hispanics in Politics President Fernando Romero said he "couldn't begin to say" who the group would be backing this year. (In 2011, it endorsed Clark County Commissioner Chris Giunchigliani, a Democrat.)

Hispanics in Politics is the oldest and most established political organization for Latinos in Nevada.

It's unclear what issues the mayor is expected to address before the group, but Romero said he anticipates an emphasis on business development. Goodman's campaign manager, Tom Letizia, didn't offer a preview.

Wednesday's event begins at 7:30 a.m. and costs $15 to attend, with a $5 discount for students with identification cards.
