North Las Vegas in running for electric car factory

The city of North Las Vegas may soon be home to an electric car manufacturing factory to rival Tesla's Gigafactory in Reno.

The city is one of four finalists being considered for the factory being built by Faraday Future, an upstart automotive company looking to take on industry giant Tesla, according to published reports.

Faraday Future is a California-based company that plans to have an electric car available for purchase by 2017, according to Motor Trend.

A report by financial website Seeking Alpha said Faraday Future is considering building its factory in one of four states — Nevada, Georgia, Louisiana or California.

A North Las Vegas official confirmed that representatives from Faraday Future have made multiple visits to several sites at the 7,000-acre Apex Industrial Park.
