Light showers in the valley precede stretch of warmer weather

Light showers fell in the valley Tuesday night, but the sprinkles aren't expected to continue Wednesday as the area prepares for warmer weather, according to the National Weather Service.

Trace amounts of rain fell mostly in the southern half of the valley, but the system that delivered the showers is expected to move east overnight, Weather Service meteorologist Clay Morgan said.

A trace amount of rain is defined as less than 0.01 inches, he said.

The system should pass through just after sunrise, and valley residents are expected to see lots of sunshine Wednesday afternoon as most clouds clear out, he said.

Temperatures on Wednesday should reach a high of about 63 degrees and a low of about 38 degrees, he said.

The day may be a little breezy, with winds between 10 and 20 mph predicted, he said.

The valley is expected to see a warming trend after Thursday, according to the Weather Service.

Meteorologists are forecasting a high temperature of about 59 degrees Thursday, but the high is expected to increase to about 71 degrees Monday, Morgan said.

Lows of about 38 degrees early Thursday and Friday should increase to about 47 degrees by Monday morning as high pressure builds over the area, he said.
