Kitchen fire causes $25,000 damage to Las Vegas home

A kitchen fire broke out in a central valley house Friday afternoon, causing about $25,000 in damage, fire officials said.

Las Vegas Fire and Rescue crews received a report about 4:40 p.m. of smoke coming from a one-story house in the 400 block of Red River Drive, near South Valley View Boulevard and Alta Drive, spokesman Tim Szymanski said.

Firefighters could not enter through the front of the residence, and when they entered through the patio door, they found a fire in the kitchen, he said.

The fire, which was ruled an accident, began on the stove, Szymanski said.

No injures were reported, and no one was home when firefighters arrived on scene, he said.

On its Twitter account, Las Vegas Fire and Rescue posted several videos relating to kitchen fire safety after the department responded to multiple stove fires.
