Two schools locked down after nearby shooting

Two schools were locked down this morning as officers investigated reports that someone in a nearby house shot at a car, Metro Police said.

Nobody was injured, but the vehicle was hit, police said.

Officers were at the house in the 5100 block of Lenora Drive, near Hacienda Avenue and Nellis Boulevard, trying to get the people inside to come out, police said.

Two area schools, Cortney Junior High and the Harmon Elementary, were placed on a soft lockdown as a precaution, police said.

The lockdown was lifted about noon after officers determined the suspect was no longer in the area, police said.

Police received multiple calls about 9:30 a.m. of gunshots. Police said there was a disturbance, and somebody in the house opened fire on the car, which left and met officers at Tropicana Avenue and Nellis.
