Woman killed in nine-vehicle crash identified

A woman who died Friday afternoon as the SUV she was driving was struck and rolled over in a nine-vehicle crash has been identified as 56-year-old Ellen Finnie Gallucci, according to the Clark County Coroner's Office.

Gallucci, a Las Vegas resident, died of multiple blunt force trauma when the 2000 Nissan Xterra she was driving was hit by a 2012 Dodge Challenger, officials said.

Police say the Challenger was headed east on Cheyenne Avenue and failed to slow down at a red light at Jones Boulevard, entering the intersection and hitting a southbound 1993 Ford Crown Victoria.

The Challenger then struck the northbound Xterra, Metro Police said.

Both the Dodge and Nissan hit a 2000 Toyota Rav4 headed north, and the Nissan and Toyota rolled over. Five other vehicles stopped at a red light also were struck.

Gallucci was pronounced dead on scene, and multiple people were taken to the hospital with minor to serious injuries, police said.

The driver of the Challenger, 32-year-old Kenneth Rankin, suffered serious injuries and was in police custody at a local hospital, police said.
