Teen hit by car in southwest valley in critical condition

Pedestrian critically injured

A 15-year-old boy was crossing Jones Boulevard in a marked crosswalk Thursday when he was hit by a pickup truck and critically injured, according to Metro Police.

Neither the 78-year-old driver nor a 76-year-old female passenger was injured, police said.

The 2003 Ford Ranger truck was headed south on Jones, north of Dewey Drive, about 6 p.m. when it hit the teen, police said.

The boy, who is from Las Vegas, was taken to University Medical Center with critical injuries, police said.

The driver, also of Las Vegas, stayed at the scene and did not show any signs of impairment, police said.

The incident was under investigation.
