About 5,000 Southwest Gas customers are without service in Henderson this afternoon due to a leaking pipe, a spokesperson said.
The company had to disrupt service to 5,008 customers due to a damaged 4-inch pipe found near Old Vegas Trail and Wagon Wheel Drive, Southwest Gas spokeswoman Sonya Headen said.
Crews were conducting a survey to find leaking pipes in the area, Headen said, and once the damaged pipe was found, service to some customers had to be disrupted about 1 p.m. to ensure everything was "safe and secure."
Crews have secured the area and are working to restore service, she said.
An exact estimate of service restoration to customers was not available.
Headen said outbound calling and an outage map posted on the company's website are being used to notify customers. People can keep track of updates by visiting swgas.com.
