A hiker who died at Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area after falling 80 to 100 feet Saturday morning has been identified by the Clark County Coroner's office as 25-year-old Brian William Tracy of Spokane, Wash.
The release of the official cause and manner of death are pending.
Police were called to the area about 11:45 a.m., Metro Lt. Jeff Goodwin said.
Search-and-rescue crews were in the area to aid Tracy, who was reportedly injured, but crews said the rescue effort was hampered by high winds, Goodwin said.
Tracy received first aid from other hikers but was pronounced dead at the scene, he said.
