A worker at a south valley construction site was rescued this afternoon after falling into a 25-foot-deep hole, according to the Clark County Fire Department.

Crews were called about 3 p.m. to the area of East Robindale and Bermuda roads, where the 36-year-old man fell into the hole after losing his balance, Clark County Battalion Chief Eric Poleski said.

The man was conscious, alert and talking the entire time, and he was rescued by Henderson and Clark County fire crews before being transported to a nearby elementary school, according to the fire department.

From there, he was taken by helicopter to University Medical Center as a "precautionary measure," Poleski said.

Fire crews worked with construction site employees to secure the hole, which is 8 feet wide and 25 feet deep, to ensure it didn't collapse, and the man was lifted out, he said.

The rescue operation took about 90 minutes, according to the fire department.
