Coroner IDs man fatally struck while riding a moped in NLV

A 24-year-old man who was fatally struck while riding a moped Saturday night in North Las Vegas has been identified as Las Vegas resident Thomas Earl Phillips, according to the Clark County Coroner's Office.

Phillips died of multiple injuries from the crash, which happened about 9 p.m. at the intersection of Las Vegas Boulevard North and Hamilton Street, according to the Coroner's Office and North Las Vegas Police.

Witnesses told police the involved vehicle was speeding south on Las Vegas Boulevard when it struck Phillips, according to police.

Officers arrested 35-year-old David Coleman, who they say fled the scene in his Toyota Camry after the crash and was found at the intersection of Las Vegas Boulevard and Bonneville Avenue, according to North Las Vegas Police.
