2 pedestrians killed in Halloween collisions

Updated Friday, Oct. 31, 2014 | 11:01 p.m.

Police are investigating two separate pedestrian deaths that occurred Halloween evening, one of which is a hit-and-run.

A vehicle fatally struck an elderly man in an unmarked crosswalk on East Lake Mead Boulevard some time after 7 p.m. and fled the scene, said North Las Vegas Police. The man, 73, was a resident of North Las Vegas. Police are searching for a dark colored pickup truck with damage on the front, specifically the driver's side.

In a separate incident around 7:15 p.m., a woman died after being hit by a car in the northeast valley near Craig Road and Nellis Boulevard, said Lt. Yaz Yatomi of Metro Police.

The woman, who was in her 50s, did not appear to have been using a crosswalk, Yatomi said.

She was transported to University Medical Center Trauma, where she was pronounced dead, Yatomi said.

Alcohol does not appear to have been a factor in the accident, but police are still investigating, Yatomi said.
