Letter to the editor:

Look at Democrats’ track record

What do we have in the Oct. 14 letter to the editor,“What does the GOP have to offer?”? Another liberal who believes just because he said it, it is true.

Cases in point: “I believe with the Republicans in control we will invade other nations ... put boots on the ground ...” Look at our last several conflicts and which party held the presidency: WWI, Woodrow Wilson-Dem.; WWII, FDR-Dem.; Korea, Harry Truman-Dem.; Vietnam, JFK/LBJ- Dems.; Iraq and Afghanistan, George W. Bush-Rep. Kind of shoots that argument down. Next, “... every time the government cut taxes ... the economy gets worse.” Another history lesson: Reagan cut taxes in 1981, and for the next eight years our GDP grew at a 7.5 percent rate. During Bush’s term, the economy grew at 5.2 percent per year. Under President Barack Obama with increased taxes, regulations and social programs, our economy has grown at 2.5 percent per year. Worse with a tax cut? Hardly.

How about the Obama policies and how they have helped the economy? Our debt has increased from $10 trillion to $18 trillion, saddling our kids and their kids with enormous debt. The median family income has decreased from $53,000 to $51,000. We have the highest percentage of folks on food stamps and social security disability than any other time in our history. The job participation rate is the lowest since 1978. But, hey, don’t let any facts shade your opinion. If you like this track record, vote Democrat.
