The dogs rescued from a fire in North Las Vegas in September are now ready for to be placed in new homes, according to The Animal Foundation.

The renters of the Stanley Avenue house, owned by a North Las Vegas Councilman Isaac Barron, had almost 100 dogs at the residence when it caught fire Sept. 28. Many of the dogs were revived with oxygen, but about 40 perished.

The rescued dogs have been on a legal hold at The Animal Foundation pending the outcome of a criminal investigation. The dogs have been cared for by the organization's veterinarians and staff for nearly two months.

Sixteen of the dogs are ready for adoption this week, and the other 30 have more serious medical or behavioral conditions and are in need of placement with local and regional rescue partners. One mother and her puppy are in a foster home until the puppy is old enough to be adopted.

With capacity issues at The Animal Foundation, the shelter is hosting a "name your price" event for those looking to adopt dogs and cats one year or older through Wednesday. In addition, all fees for adopting dogs or cats will be waived through Nov. 30.

For more information on pet adoptions visit animalfoundation.com or call (702) 384-3333.
