Some notes on local campaign ads

Some comments on the campaign ads:

Best ad was for Bucky the Bighorn Sheep. It was positive and to the point.

Cleanest campaign: The campaign for sheriff was by far the cleanest. I didn’t hear anything negatives from either candidate toward the other. Both men earn my highest regards. It was unfortunate that either had to lose.

Dirtiest campaign: attorney general. Both sides were by far the nastiest of all their party’s candidates. I realize a great deal of money came in on both sides, and this outside money played with the truth very loosely. Frankly, I wouldn’t have minded seeing neither one win. The public loses when you have this kind of nastiness.

There were some others who had very little honesty in their ads; it was mostly lies or ideology. Unfortunately, many do not look past the lies but accept whatever an ad says if it supports their candidate.

There has always been a certain amount of distortion in campaign ads, but the amount of money and technology makes it easier to spread hate and lies than at any time in our history.
