A Las Vegas man accused of fatally shooting a motorist after a traffic altercation Thursday night turned himself in to Metro Police and has been arrested on a count of murder, authorities said.

The victim, Marlon Baylor, 49, of Las Vegas was driving with his wife when they were involved in an altercation with a man driving a light-colored, four-door vehicle, police said.

The drivers stopped at the intersection of Flamingo Road and Torrey Pines Drive, where Baylor’s wife got out and confronted the driver of the other vehicle, police said. Baylor also got out and was shot, police said.

When Metro officers arrived about 9:45 p.m., they found Baylor in the street with an apparent gunshot wound, police said. He was taken to University Medical Center, where he later was pronounced dead.

The suspect, later identified as William Jacobsen, 30, of Las Vegas left the scene before police arrived and drove to his home, where he called 911 and reported the incident, officials said.

Officers went to his home and took him into custody. After being taken to the Clark County Detention Center, Jacobsen tried to get away from the officers but was quickly caught, police said.

Jacobsen also faces counts of possession of a controlled substance, possession of a dangerous drug without a prescription and escape by a felony prisoner, police said.
