Strong winds bring cooler temperatures, dust warning

High winds are expected to blow through the Las Vegas Valley today, dropping temperatures and potentially kicking up dust.

A weather system off the northwest coast of Oregon is migrating to Southern Nevada, bringing with it blustery conditions. Today’s high is expected to reach 89 degrees before dropping to 71 degrees on Tuesday.

The Clark County Department of Air Quality issued a dust advisory today in effect through Tuesday morning.

Wind gusts today are expected at 25 to 35 mph, with the potential to reach 45 mph, National Weather Service meteorologist Chris Stumpf said.

County officials advise residents and construction site operators to take precautions to prevent blowing dust.

At this time, unhealthy levels of dust have not been reported.
