Missing boater found dead at Lake Mead; two others sought

A search crew has found the body of a missing boater and are searching for two others at Lake Mead National Recreation Area near Echo Bay.

The National Park Service was summoned to the location about 10 p.m. on Thursday by a relative who said that three Las Vegas men were on a boating trip and hadn’t called in for the night.

A crew began to search for the men at daybreak today and found their capsized boat about 11:30 a.m. Using a helicopter, the crew found the body of one of the men about 2:30 p.m. half a mile north of the boat.

Authorities continue to search for the two missing men. As of 4 p.m., the search team consisted of three National Park Service boats with nine rangers, one Nevada Department of Wildlife boat with three wardens, a Metro helicopter crew and Metro’s Search and Rescue Dive Team.
