Women trapped in car after crash on I-15 frontage road

Updated Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014 | 9:47 a.m.

Two women were trapped in a car and seriously injured today after the driver crashed into a wall on a frontage road along Interstate 15, the Nevada Highway Patrol reported.

Troopers responded about 7:25 a.m. to the crash near I-15 and Russell Road. Clark County firefighters extricated the women from the car, and they were taken to University Medical Center with nonlife-threatening injuries, Highway Patrol Trooper Loy Hixson said.

After crashing into the wall, the car hit the driver’s side door of a Ford F-150 pickup truck. The pickup driver was not injured, Hixson said.

The frontage road was closed, impacting traffic attempting to access the 215 Beltway and causing lengthy delays on I-15 South and east on the beltway, Hixson said.

The road was expected to reopen about 9 a.m.
