Updated Thursday, Dec. 18, 2014 | 9 p.m.

A 38-year-old Las Vegas woman died this afternoon after she drove her SUV into a storm drain and hit a brick wall in the northwest valley, Nevada Highway Patrol said.

Officials received reports of a vehicle traveling through the intersection of U.S. 95 and Craig Road about 5:40 p.m., Trooper Loy Hixson said.

The driver of the Lincoln Navigator traveled across westbound and eastbound Craig Road before continuing south into a storm drain, Hixson said.

The SUV struck the wall, and the woman was pronounced dead on scene, he said.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash, and officials believe the woman may have been impaired, Hixson said.

There are currently no major traffic closures in the area.
