Coroner releases cause of death in June car accident

The cause of death of a Las Vegas woman who died in a June vehicle collision was released today, about six months after the crash.

The Clark County Coroner's Office said Lorraine Allen, 94, died of blunt force injuries due to the June 6 collision. Metro Police received the coroner's report today and shared it with media outlets.

Allen was driving a 1998 Buick Park Avenue at the intersection of Jones Boulevard and Harmon Avenue at 1:37 p.m. While turning left from southbound Jones to eastbound Harmon, the Buick crossed the path of a 2014 Honda Accord heading north on Jones. The cars collided, and Allen was transported to University Medical Center with injuries determined to be nonlife-threatening by medical personnel.

Allen died the day after the accident at UMC on June 7. The Coroner's Office notified police of the death that day but didn't release the cause of death until today.

The Honda's two occupants both suffered minor injuries.

This was the 83rd traffic related fatality in Metro Police's jurisdiction this year.
