Metro seeking suspect after man killed behind convenience store

Metro Police are asking for the public's assistance in finding a suspect who fled the scene of a fight after killing a man.

Around 7:10 p.m. Saturday night, Metro officers were flagged down by residents in the 4300 block of North Nellis Boulevard and were told a fight had just taken place in a desert area behind a convenience store.

Officers located a male lying down in a bush. Medical personnel responded and declared him deceased at the scene.

Based on an investigation by Metro's homicide section, the suspect is described as a Samoan or Hawaiian male adult between 20-30 years old who was last seen wearing a green shirt, tan shorts and flip-flops. He was inside the convenience store in the 4300 block of North Nellis Boulevard when the victim was seen possibly take something from the suspect's vehicle. The suspect saw the victim flee and followed him into the open desert area.

The suspect then physically battered the victim, and it is believed he struck the victim with a rock, according to a Metro news release. A female who was with the suspect was seen entering his truck, a white Ford Ranger pickup, and they drove out of the area.

Anyone with information about this incident can call the Metro homicide section at (702) 828-3521. To reman anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.
