Big-league ambassadors

How refreshing to see some good news coming from the state of Nevada.

Nevada is taking the Little League nation by storm. What a great story. The team is wonderfully managed and coached, as any observer can see by the professional, mature demeanor the kids display on a very big stage.

Over a decade ago, while I volunteered for Mountain Ridge Little League for three seasons, it was a league dedicated to the development of the individual skill set, teamwork and respect for the game.

It is clear that those values have not changed and the importance of teaching the right values of baseball can lead to championship play. There may be more sizzle on the field, but Mountain Ridge Little League has the steak.

Whether the team wins or loses going forward, it has demonstrated to the country that Las Vegas isn’t just a sinful Strip; rather, it boasts a community that has produced fine young citizen ballplayers who are surrounded by love and support.
