Bishop Gorman’s head coach Nick Day lowers his head as the Coronado Cougars score another run during the Division I State Championship game at William R. Morse Stadium at the College of Southern Nevada Saturday, May 18, 2013. The Cougars won 7-4 against the defending champion Gaels.

Nick Day is no longer the Bishop Gorman High baseball coach, school officials said Wednesday.

Day coached Gorman to two state championships in four seasons, but the Gaels' streak of seven consecutive titles was snapped in 2013. Day finished with a 133-23 record, including leading Gorman in 2012 to a No. 1 ranking by USA Today.

Gino DiMaria, a Bishop Gorman graduate and assistant football coach, has been named the new baseball coach.

DiMaria is a longtime summer baseball coach in Las Vegas. This summer, his Connie Mack team won the state championship.

Day two weeks ago stepped down from his teaching position in the Gorman math department. This week, school officials decided his run as baseball coach would also be ending.
