Las Vegas 51s starter Logan Verrett pitched eight scoreless innings today in a 4-2 victory at Sacramento.
Verrett surrendered just two hits in eight innings before giving up a solo home run to lead off the ninth to Sacramento’s Shane Peterson.
Gonzalez Germen recorded the final three outs for Las Vegas, but only after giving up a run and loading the bases. He forced Sacramento’s Colin Walsh to ground into a double play to end the game.
The 51s used a three-run sixth inning to break a scoreless tie. Andrew Brown had a run-scoring single to plate the first Las Vegas run, and Cesar Puello followed with a two-run double.
Matt den Dekker went 3 for 4 with a run scored and RBI for Las Vegas.
The series concludes Tuesday.
