Body with stab wounds found in flood-control channel

The body of a man believed to be dead for more than two weeks was discovered Tuesday in a flood-control channel near downtown.

Metro Police found the body about 3 p.m. in a channel 300 yards north of B Street and Owens Avenue. The body showed signs of decomposition and stab wounds, police said.

Preliminary examination of the body indicated that it had been in the channel for 15 to 20 days, officials said.

Metro homicide detectives are investigating.

The identity of the victim and the cause of death has not yet been released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office.
