A mother and son found dead inside a Henderson apartment on Friday died of stab wounds to the chest, the Clark County Coroner’s Office reported.
They were identified as Elvira Canales-Gomez, 40, and Cesar Navarro, 9.
Canales-Gomez and Navarro were found inside their Summit at Sunridge apartment in the 11000 block of South Eastern Avenue after Canales-Gomez failed to show up for work and the boy wasn’t at school, Henderson Police spokesman Keith Paul said.
Police detectives were searching for the mother’s 16-year-old son, Adrian Navarro, who was not home when officers arrived. Adrian Navarro is not considered a suspect at this time, Paul said.
Detectives were investigating but had not determined a suspect or motive. The deaths have been ruled a homicide, coroner’s officials said.
Police urge anyone with information regarding the incident or the whereabouts of Adrian Navarro to call Henderson Police at 267-4750 or to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 385-5555, or online at crimestoppersofnv.com.
