Your paper swore that Sen. Harry Reid would do wonders for Nevada if we re-elected him in 2010; that his position as leader of the Senate gave him lots of clout; that he would come through in a big way.
Well, we did re-elect him, and he just doesn’t have what it takes.
Not like my old friend, Sen. Harry Truman, who really cared about us farm boys back in '37.
My church was across the street from Truman’s home. He always took time out to say hello to me on his way to church and ask about my 4H project and other farm matters. Even when he went to the White House, he was the same old Harry Truman. Case in point: Later when I was fighting with the 4th Marines in the South Pacific, my mail was delayed and he answered my mother’s desperate letter. He actually took the time to track me down and called her back.
Can you picture Harry Reid going to that trouble? Not in this lifetime!
