Man killed after car hits tree and splits in two

A man riding in a 2002 Honda Civic was killed early Thursday morning when the car spun out of control and split in two after smashing into a tree.

The car was traveling north on Camino Eldorado Road about 4:30 a.m. when the 22-year-old North Las Vegas woman behind the wheel lost control near Tropical Parkway, North Las Vegas Police spokeswoman Chrissie Coon said.

The driver and a 23-year-old man were ejected from the vehicle.

The woman was taken to University Medical Center, where she was in critical condition, Coon said. The man, also of North Las Vegas, was pronounced dead at the scene, she said. Their names were not immediately released.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing, Coon said. The intersection will be shut down until about 10 a.m., she said.

The death was the fourth traffic-related fatality in North Las Vegas this year.

  1. The important thing here is the profession of the person at fault in the accident. It's even more important if they do something attention getting for the article title.

So tell us Sun, was she a stripper?!?!?!?!?!

  2. How fast do you have to be going to split a Honda Civic? Slow down folks...

  3. uh... i think you want to say that the CAR split in two, not the man, as your headline reads.

  4. The odds are booze is involved. Pretty telling that neither were smart enough to buckle up. How dumb is that? It only takes a second to do so.

  5. C'mon LV Sun , really? . Can't you headline that one a lil better?.
