Search continues for suspect in March 5 stabbing in park

James Gay III Park

A specialized law enforcement unit is searching for a man suspected in a stabbing that took place in early March at James Gay III Park.

On March 5, Anthony Johnson, 40, allegedly stabbed another homeless man after an argument while waiting in line for food at the park, on Owens Avenue and B Street, Las Vegas spokesman Jace Radke said. The victim was transported to University Medical Center Trauma with injuries that were not life-threatening, Radke said.

Johnson is described as a 5-foot-10, 165-pound black man.

Metro Police assisted in the initial investigation, but the park falls under the jurisdiction of the Deputy City Marshals, Radke said. The Deputy City Marshals are a specialized law enforcement unit whose responsibilities include providing law enforcement services to city employees, residents and tourists utilizing city facilities.

Anyone with information regarding Johnson’s whereabouts is urged to contact Deputy City Marshal investigators at 702-229-3223 or email at bgoldy@lasvegasnevada.gov or ppatton@lasvegasnevada.gov.
