Most of Southern Nevada, along with parts of Utah and Arizona, were under a red flag fire warning Thursday until 9 p.m. because of high winds.
Wind gusts up to 40 mph were expected throughout the afternoon, which, combined with low humidity, creates a high wildfire danger, according to the National Weather Service.
Areas affected include Las Vegas, Ely, Tonopah, and Flagstaff, Ariz.
Las Vegas Fire & Rescue hadn’t received any wildfire calls as of 11 a.m. Thursday, spokesman Tim Szymanski said.
