Accident
A school bus and a sedan collided Tuesday afternoon on Flamingo Road en route to picking children up at Orr Middle School.
The collision occurred around 2 p.m. near Flamingo Road and Sandhill Boulevard, Metro Police officer Bill Cassell said. The driver of the sedan was transported to Sunrise Hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries.
The school bus was not carrying children at the time of the crash, Clark County School District spokeswoman Melinda Malone said. The bus driver had recently finished dropping Thorpe Elementary School children off at their homes and was on the way to Orr Middle School, Malone said.
No one else was injured in the incident, Cassell said. Westbound lanes of Flamingo Road are closed west of Annie Oakley Drive while Metro Police investigate the crash.
Malone said the bus driver will undergo the routine drug and alcohol test that follows an accident.
