The winner of the December Smithereens Cartoon Caption Contest is Dale Stout for “I got mugged by an elf.”

Christmas is over, which might be a good thing if you're worried about being mugged by an elf.
We asked readers to submit their best captions for the December Smithereens Cartoon Caption Contest. After online voting, the winner is Dale Stout, who got a third of the votes for "I got mugged by an elf."
Congrats Dale. We'll send you an autographed copy of the cartoon.
Second place in the contest goes to website user kinggeorge for "I didn't really think about how I was going to sit on his knee," which received 22 percent of the vote.
In third place was "Look kid .... you work the big guy your way and I'll work him mine!" submitted by Thomas Harris, which got 19 percent of the votes.
"Santa, I need a job. You got full time employment in the North Pole?" from David Lopez took fourth place with 15 percent of the vote.
And chediski came in fifth with 10 percent of the vote for "I figure I got nothin' to lose."
