CARSON CITY — Gov. Brian Sandoval and the governor of the state of Mexico have signed an agreement to promote tourism between the two governments and to join in cultural and artistic exchanges.

The agreement calls for more direct flights between Las Vegas and Toluca, the capital of the state of Mexico, and for hotel associations to explore development of resorts in both places.

The agreement with Mexico Gov. Eruviel Avila Villegas is a follow-up of a trade mission Sandoval led to Mexico in July.

It calls for the possible marketing of Mexican craft items in Nevada and inviting Mexican musical and dance groups to perform at events.

Nevada will promote festivals such as Hot August Nights and the Great Balloon Race, both in Reno, and First Friday in downtown Las Vegas.
