State Route 157 reopens after storm damage, but delays still expected

State Route 157, which leads up to Mount Charleston, has reopened to all traffic, the Nevada Highway Patrol announced this afternoon.

Stormy and wet weather Sunday caused flash floods, carrying away so much dirt near the state route, also known as Kyle Canyon Road, that a patch of the asphalt street collapsed. The damage happened near mile marker 18.

Authorities cautioned motorists to expect delays in that area because construction to repair the damage will continue through Thursday.

Mount Charleston also can be accessed from state Route 156.
