LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

NSA program violates our rights

I was originally supportive of the NSA program, which was explained as simply the ability of the NSA to track phone calls of foreign suspected terrorists into the USA.

New revelations show that the program goes much, much further, which involves sweeping up all phone calls, emails, texts and other private information of innocent American citizens.

This is a clear violation of every American’s Fourth Amendment right: The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

We are learning that the IRS and DEA are gleaning information gathered by the NSA.

These violations of our constitutional rights are outrageous, and the only way it will stop is if every American writes to their congressional representative to demand a stop to these violations of our Constitution.

Failure of any representative to vote to repeal the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act of 1978 should result in that representative being voted out of office.
