51s dispose of Oklahoma City, still one game out of first

Brandon Hicks hit two home runs today in the Las Vegas 51s’ 12-3 victory against visiting Oklahoma City in opening a four-game series at Cashman Field.

The win helped Las Vegas (66-54) stay one game back of first-place Sacramento in the Pacific Southern Division. Sacramento won its eighth straight game today, scoring twice in the ninth to beat host Omaha, 6-4.

Hicks’ second home run was a two-run shot in the eighth inning, when the 51s scored five times to put the game out of reach. Eric Campbell added a two-run double in the outburst.

Las Vegas also scored four runs in the fifth inning, using a two-run single from Matt den Dekker to highlight the rally.

Jacob deGrom pitched into the seventh inning for Las Vegas, striking out six and yielding three unearned runs.

The series continues at 7:05 p.m. Friday.
