Cartwright Elementary students work on their homework during a SafeKey program after school on June 4, 2002.

Las Vegas parents may start registering their elementary schoolchildren for Safekey, a popular before- and after-school program.

Safekey is a fee-based program that provides children ages 5 to 11 with activities, games, crafts, homework assistance and snacks at their school before and after school hours.

This upcoming school year, Safekey is being offered at 68 public schools in Las Vegas. There are other Safekey programs available in Henderson and North Las Vegas.

Las Vegas residents may register and pay for Safekey passes online and at the city's Safekey office located 416 N. Seventh St., between Bonanza Road and Mesquite Avenue. Payments will no longer be accepted at Las Vegas Safekey school sites.

There are daily rates for both morning and afternoon Safekey passes. There is an annual $10 Safekey registration fee per child.

For Safekey fee prices, other information and for payments, contact the Safekey office at 702-229-3399 or visit here.
