First graduates of Nevada State College’s ‘summer bridge’ program to be recognized

Nevada State College will hold a reception for its first class of "summer bridge" graduates next Friday.

Earlier this summer, the Henderson college launched the Nepantla Program, a "summer bridge" program that offered remedial classes and leadership training to struggling high school graduates to help them bridge the gap between high school and college.

The 23 program participants are all incoming freshmen at Nevada State College who recently graduated from local high schools: Basic, Chaparral, Eldorado, Rancho and Sunrise Mountain. The Nevada State College Foundation gave students scholarships to attend the program, which taught them about leadership and networking skills to help them succeed in college and beyond.

Students will be recognized for their participation with certificates of completion.
