Armed resident barricaded in southwest LV home, forcing neighborhood evacuation

Several homes have been evacuated Wednesday in southwest Las Vegas while an armed person is barricaded inside a home near Blue Diamond and Fort Apache roads, Metro Police officials said.

Police, who arrived about 3:40 p.m., said the person is armed and a threat to him or herself. Police said nearby homes were evacuated as a precaution.

Police are working to diffuse the situation.

  1. I've never understood the "barricaded in your house" thing. What do you do? Do you call the police and announce that you're barricaded in your house? What's the point?
