Gas prices are down from a month ago across most of Nevada, according to the latest AAA Nevada monthly fuel gauge survey.
The average price for regular unleaded gasoline in Nevada is $3.74 a gallon, down nine cents from AAA’s March 12 survey.
Prices in the Las Vegas Valley held true to the trend. In Las Vegas, the average price of gasoline was $3.70, down 12 cents from a month ago. In North Las Vegas, gasoline also averaged $3.70, down 11 cents from March. In Henderson, the average price was a penny higher, at $3.71, but was down 13 cents from last month.
The only area in the state where gasoline is higher this month is in Elko, where drivers are paying $3.74 a gallon, up 12 cents from last month’s prices.
“The recent decline has been a product of lower crude oil prices and a now-completed switchover to summer-blend gasoline,” said Cynthia Harris, AAA Nevada spokesperson. “Declining retail gas prices have been the result of an increase in refinery production and economic concerns, which have created less of a demand among consumers.”
The highest price in Nevada areas tracked by AAA is in Sparks, at $3.87 per gallon. The least expensive in the state was in Carson City, at $3.69. Today’s national average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline is $3.58, about 12 cents less than the average price a year ago.
AAA said the least expensive gasoline in the country could be found in Casper, Wyo., at $3.35 per gallon. The highest average is in Wailuku, Hawaii, at $4.39 per gallon.
