Hunt on for burglars
Students at three schools are deemed to be safe again after a two-hour lockdown, although Metro Police continue to search for three men suspected of breaking into a nearby home.
Officer Jose Hernandez, Metro spokesman, said police were called shortly after 1 p.m. after a woman saw four men enter a house through a window in the 6900 block of Canary Ivy Way, near East Lake Mead Boulevard and North Los Feliz Street in the northeastern valley. When police arrived, three men jumped out of the window and ran toward Exeter Drive.
The ensuing chase prompted the lockdown of Sunrise Mountain High School, 2575 N. Los Feliz St., Hickey Elementary School, 2450 N. Hollywood Blvd., and Bailey Middle School, 2500 N. Hollywood Blvd.
Hernandez said the three suspects are believed to be outside the range of the schools.
