Seven displaced in fire
Six children and one adult were displaced from their two-story home near U.S. Highway 95 and Decatur Boulevard after an upstairs bedroom caught fire around 11:20 a.m. Friday.
Las Vegas Fire and Rescue spokesman Tim Szymanski said investigators believe the fire started because a child had been playing with matches or a lighter. Firefighters arrived at 5305 Harmony Ave. and doused the flames in a couple minutes.
The fire was contained to the bedroom. Szymanski said the fire destroyed a bed, a TV and a few other items, causing an estimated $5,000 in damage to the room.
No one was injured.
