UNLV warns about phony solicitations on behalf of football team

Several Las Vegas businesses have said a man claiming to be associated with the UNLV football team has been soliciting money.

“This person is not a student-athlete at UNLV and is not affiliated with the Athletics Department in any way,” the university said in a news release. “No UNLV student-athlete will ever directly solicit donations on behalf of the school.”

The school advises business owners to report such solicitations to police.

  1. Bad strategy. It would probably be easier to illegally solicit for the basketball team.
