A passenger was killed and the driver critically injured Saturday when a sport utility vehicle drove onto a closed stretch of the 215 Beltway, went out of control and rolled, the Nevada Highway Patrol said.
Antonio McCoy was in the front passenger seat of the 1999 Chevrolet Blazer when he was apparently thrown from the vehicle about 11:15 p.m. Saturday, east of Lamb Boulevard, police said.
McCoy, 31, was transported to University Medical Center, where he died about 8:30 a.m. Sunday, police said.
The driver, Julia Marie Jackson, also was taken to the hospital and was in critical condition, police said.
The vehicle traveled onto a closed section of the beltway, began to spin and rolled over, eventually landing on its wheels, police said. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
