A man was killed after his car collided head-on with a semitrailer on State Route 160 between Pahrump and Las Vegas around 11 a.m. Wednesday.
Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Jeremie Elliott said the man was driving a 1990s-model blue Ford Thunderbird south on the two-lane road when he drifted into the oncoming lane. At the same time, a semitrailer was traveling north, and the two vehicles collided.
Elliott said the man was pronounced dead on scene. Elliott said the cars blocked the roadway, and 150 gallons of diesel fuel from the truck had spilled onto the road. After cleanup, the road was opened in both directions at 5:35 p.m.
Elliott said the accident is under investigation. He said it is unknown whether drugs or alcohol played a factor in the collision.
